Preparing for your Baptism and your Testimony

At Hinton Alliance we ask that each person who is baptized write out a simple testimony so that the church can
know of your journey towards obedience in the waters of Baptism. The following is a template to assist you in
doing this. Please ask for help if you feel you need it.
Template for Writing Your Testimony
It is a great thing to write out a 2–3-minute testimony (about 250 words) of how you came to know Jesus
as your Savior and what difference He has made in your life.
Never underestimate the power of your testimony. It is good for you to know and remember and it is
helpful when sharing with others what God has done for you.
Rev. 12:11 But they overcame him by the blood of the Lamb and by the word of their testimony, and they did not
love their lives so much that they were afraid to die.
Four things to keep in mind regarding your testimony:
1. The story is about you and Jesus.
2. It is helpful for your own spiritual strength against the Devil.
3. It is helpful for sharing your faith journey with others.
4. It is helpful for encouraging and strengthening other believers.
Six parts to writing and sharing your testimony.
1. Begins with you…where you were born, your family situation as you grew up, any unique things that
may have happened to you etc.
2. The story surrounding coming to know Jesus. When, where, how, who, why, etc. as much as you can
recall.
3. The continuing story of how life in Jesus has influenced you. What has happened because of believing in
Jesus?
4. The Pastor asks that you email it to him once you’ve finished it. It will be printed and placed at the
welcome center kiosk so others can be blessed by what Jesus is doing in you life.

5. Are you willing to share your testimony publicly with the church? We encourage this but realize that
you may not feel comfortable speaking in front of a crowd. Please email it to
office@hintonalliance.com or kevincnichol@gmail.com
